What is Amazon FBA?
Amazon FBA stands for "Fulfillment by Amazon". It is a service that Amazon offers you. Sellers like you can send their products to Amazon and store the goods in Amazon's fulfillment centers. When a customer buys your product, Amazon takes care of storing, packing, and shipping the product. In addition, Amazon also handles customer service and returns.
What are Amazon FBA Labels?
Amazon FBA labels are stickers that you must affix to your products before sending them to Amazon fulfillment centers. The labels encode the information Amazon needs for inventory management, product identification, and order fulfillment.
Why are Amazon FBA labels important?
Without Amazon FBA labels, you can't use Amazon's FBA service. The labels make Amazon processes such as product storage and shipping efficient.
First of all, FBA labels enable the precise identification of a product. This ensures that the right items are shipped to the right customers. The labels contain barcodes and other important information that helps track inventory accurately.
For returns, the information on the label helps to correctly allocate the item to the seller's inventory and enables efficient processing of refunds and exchanges. FBA labels are also particularly important for international shipping, as they can provide additional information for customs and shipping regulations.
What kind of Amazon FBA stickers are available?
There are different types of labels that Amazon accepts for fulfillment service.
FNSKU (Fulfillment Network Stock Keeping Unit)
FNSKU is a unique identifier consisting of a barcode in an alphanumeric string. This label helps Amazon track the product in the warehouse and ensures that the correct product is shipped to the customer. The FNSKU is automatically created from the UPC of your product as soon as you upload it to the Amazon catalog.
UPC / EAN / ISBN
In some cases, Amazon also accepts standard product codes such as UPC, EAN or ISBN. You surely already know these barcodes, as they are used by companies worldwide to identify products. As mentioned above, Amazon can sometimes use these barcodes as well, but you still need the special FNSKU barcode for the fulfillment service.
Shipping & Hazardous Goods Labels
Apart from the FNSKU barcodes, as a seller, you also need to attach shipping labels to the boxes or packages they send to Amazon fulfillment centers. If they sell products that are classified as hazardous, you will also need to attach hazardous material labels to the packages.
Amazon FBA Label Requirements
There are some Amazon FBA label requirements that you must adhere to in order to ensure the fulfillment and storage of your products on Amazon. Here we provide you with the current requirements (June 2023) that you should adhere to. Since the requirements can change, it is important that you check them regularly with Amazon itself.
Amazon FBA labels must be clear and readable with a scanner. Text information on the labels must also be visible to the naked eye.
Regarding label placement, Amazon FBA dictates that labels should be stuck to a flat surface. Other information and codes must not be covered by the FBA labels.
Use labels with good quality and adhesion so that the labels stick to your packaging and are legible.
For FNSKU labels, the barcode must be together with the FNSKU number and the product state. For UPC, EAN or ISBN, the corresponding codes must be clearly displayed.
How to print Amazon FBA labels?
To have Amazon FBA labels printed, you have three options.
Amazon Label Service
On the one hand, you have the option of having your labels printed by Amazon. You can do this by registering with the Amazon label service and sending your products to Amazon. Amazon will then take care of printing and applying the labels.
Print yourself
Of course, if you are familiar with the requirements, you can easily print the FBA labels yourself. For printing you need a thermal transfer– or laser printer. You can find such a printer in our Data-Label-Shop.
Go to Amazon Seller Central and click on manage FBA inventory. Now select the shipment for which you need the label and click Print Item Label to print the label.
Data Label Printing
